A Preview for St. Kilda vs North Melbourme
April 2nd 2010 14:55
This is my preview for the game tonight, I am writing previews for The Animal Enclosure Forum and I thought I would post it on this blog, sure it's not the best preview I have ever done, but it's ok I think. The preview is meant to be from the Saints point of view, but I threw in a bit there for the Kangaroos.
Preview
The Roos were the second team to beat the Saints last season, and they will be slightly confident coming into this game. The Saints have lost Kosi after he was given three weeks for a reckless hit on a Swans player last weekend. The Swans almost got over the line but the Saints managed to han g on in the end, another close encounter for the two the Swans almost got them last season and almost got them in the NAB Cup, not that anyone really takes the NAB Cup too seriously but the game was still close, so it might mean more then some think.
The Saints will be looking for another long steak, and have it lead to a flag, Dawson after being highlighted as a player that needed to step up managed to, Kosi stepped into a player rather then stepped up. But the key man for the Saints Riewoldt was there to goal when needed and the rest of the Saints took themselves to a win, that's all you need to do is win, and they did it. Some won't see this game as an encounter that is going to be a classic, the Roos aren't a top eight side yet, and the Saints, well they are top four, and a challenger for the flag.
Imagine what will happen if the Roos managed to upset the Saints? The first major sign of a challenger for the flag getting knocked over by a side some expect to remain oputside the eight again this season, well for the Roos fans reading, it's not looking good for the Roos this weekend, but the Roos only need to put in a good performance clearly they are going to be written off and with good reason.
I am giving the Saints the win in this one, I think Dal Santo, Montagna, and co are going to just run riot there for the Sainters and they know they have a bit of payback for last season, but the Saints are going to need to keep an eye out for a North Melbourne Roosurgence. North showed the Sainters last season that if you are going to nap in the AFL they are going to come back and beat you. A clear indictor that the Roos mean business this season was their win over the Cats in the NAB Cup, again, pre-season not meaning a lot, but for a young team under a new coach a win is a win.
