Can the Dockers knock off the Cats?
April 6th 2010 14:45
It seems after a couple of wins against the Bombers and Crows the Dockers have a few fans ready to talk up their chances against the reigning premiers. The Cats came to play late against the Hawks yesterday, but when the came was there to be won the Cats managed to get over the line, the Hawks were good but the Cats were just simply better at finishing off the game.
The Dockers have been good as well, against not so great opponents, which has surprised, Adelaide were a finals contender last season and this season they have not yet fired, they do have a long injury list, so things are not going to get better with a few players already gone for most of the season.
The Bombers are playing a very unattractive game, leaking too many goals and just going to blown away if they keep this up. They came very close to upsetting the Cats in round one, but since they gave up that lead they have been down in the dumps.
As for the Dockers winning, I just cannot see it, even though the game is at Subiaco, it may be a way for the Dockers to escape without being smashed, but the Dockers have unearthed a talented mature aged draftee in Michael Barlow. Showing that a player is never too old for the AFL draft, it may give Tasmania's Ian Callinan one last crack at being drafted, currently playing in South Australia the midfielder has been passed over by a few clubs for being short.
But really, I have looked at it from all angles, the biased side of me that is not a Cat lover thinks the Cats are going to easily win this, the part of me that wishes the Dockers would win this, thinks the Dockers have no show. Some feel after the Dockers best start to a season for awhile has seen some think the Dockers are the real deal, but can it be said after two rounds, against two sides that will possibly not be playing finals?
I really do not think you can, though it does seem some are getting very confident about their prospects, even early in the season, even though unless they start to beat a top four side they are not going to be taken seriously. Though, are they being taken seriously for just beating two sides who are looking like not playing in September?
I do think the Dockers are going to find a way to maybe cause the Magpies a bit of trouble, the Magpies had a terrible time of it on the weekend against the Demons and just seem to have an impending headache against the Saints this week, it may take the Magpies some time to recover from this.
I might be underestimating the abilities of the Magpies but after the weekend I doubt many are going to be very confident of the Pies after they allowed the Demons to have their best game of the season, and almosrt secure their first win, some would have said the Pies should have, well I think everyone is thinking the Pies should have won this one easily. But this is about the Dockers and the Cats, it should be interesting viewing.
Those who believe the Dockers are presently the real deal are probably going to be very surprised.

The Dockers need to start winning these tough games at home if they want to be considered serious contenders. They couldn't be up against Geelong at a better time with the outs Geelong have and they are more than overdue for a win against the Cats.
I really think this is the year the Dockers will start to silence the critics, it's only round 3 but they are looking like a team on a mission to create some better history for themselves. It has to happen sooner or later, they have to make another finals series before too long.
I get ridiculed for rating them. But imo they are as competitive as any team in the league and loose more games by less than a goal than any other team also. It's only a matter of time until they start to turn these narrow losses into winning streaks.
