My Dream Team best and worst picks of the year so far
May 16th 2008 06:17
I found it really difficult to choose a AFL Dream Team this year. Here are some of my best and worst picks.
BEST
Chad Cornes and Kane Cornes – Port Adelaide Football Club
Chad and Kane have been in my dream team for the past couple of years. They get lots of touches, marks and kicks around the ground. Most of the time they both guarantee 100 points each game. Even though Chad is injured, I’m keeping him for the long haul.
Simon Black – Brisbane Lions
I don’t usually rate Simon Black – however he is having a stellar year. He has also averaging about 100 points per game.
Dean Cox – West Coast Eagles
I couldn’t decide between Brendan Lade and Dean Cox. Cox, like Lade is a must in Ruck in your team.
Mathew Pavlich – Fremantle
Another must in your team. I don’t think he started the year off as well as he could. But he has been playing some good football of late.
Nick Stevens
Even though Stevens was out for a few weeks, this year he has played some really good football. He is averaging about 100 points per week.
HOLD
Nick Riewoldt – St Kilda
I don’t think Riewoldt has played his best footy so far this year. But I’m going to keep him.
Brad Johnson – Western Bulldogs
I had Brad Johnson in my team last year – he had a ripping season 2007. This year he seems to be struggling a bit. Could be because he’s getting a bit older – however I’ll keep him nonetheless.
Chris Judd
Who knows whether or not Judd has fully got over the extent of his injury. He also seems to be playing a little under his best.
Jonothan Brown – Brisbane Lions
You have to pick up Brown at the start of the year – you’d be silly not to. After saying that, I don’t think he has been playing to his best either.
BEST VALUE PICK UPS
Kieran Jack – Sydney Swans
This youngster has been playing very well this year. He continues to play well week after week. He was a bargain at the start of the year.
Alipate Carlile – Port Adelaide Football Club
It wasn’t this youngsters first year playing football – however he has risen to the mark. He was cheap at the start of the year and has proved to be a great pick up.
Bernie Vince – Adelaide Football Club
Like Carlile, Vince was cheap at the start of the year and is performing well week after week.
